Jadran HN closes season defending Montenegrin title

Jadran Herceg Novi successfully defended its title in the Montenegrin water polo championship by defeating Budva in the first three matches of the best-of-five final series.

In the final match this evening, Jadran triumphed over Budva 14:9 in front of its home crowd. Budva, which surprised many by reaching the final, managed to tie the score early in the game at 1:1 and 2:2. However, Jadran then went on a 4:0 run and took a commanding 6:2 lead midway through the second period. By halftime, Jadran was ahead 8:3 and maintained a big difference for the remainder of the game.

This season, Jadran has secured another domestic double crown.

Meanwhile, Budva can also take pride in its accomplishments this season, having finished 1st in the A1 VRL League and surprising Primorac (the unbeaten team in the regular season) in the Montenegrin semifinals to earn a spot in the Champions League qualification round. Even if Budva does not qualify for the Champions League, it will have another chance in the Euro Cup Qualifications.
