Dynasty legend Dame Joan Collins has reunited with Elizabeth Hurley on the red carpet, more than a decade after they began starring in US soap opera The Royals together

Dame Joan Collins has reunited with The Royals co-star Elizabeth Hurley on the red carpet for her upcoming whodunnit. The 93-year old, best known for playing Alexis Carrington in the 1980s US soap Dynasty, stars in the upcoming film A Murder Between Friends.

The two played mother and daughter in the US soap opera The Royals which followed a fictional British royal family headed by Queen Helena (Hurley). The E! soap opera ran for ran for four series and aired from 2015 until 2018.

Wearing a black mid-length dress featuring a gold embellishment around the collar, Dame Joan smiled for photographs alongside her pal on the red carpet for the film’s UK premiere. Elizabeth wore an orange bodycon maxi dress paired with a gold clutch and sunglasses.

The two also posed for photographs with her son, Damian Hurley, who wore a light green suit. Dame Joan stars in the whodunnit alongside EastEnders actor Toby-Alexander Smith and Days Of Our Lives’ Nadia Bjorlin along with its two co-directors, General Hospital star Jacob Young and US actor Trent Garrett.

The film follows a true-crime TV star (Dame Joan) as she gets tasked with solving a murder mystery at her country estate.

Dame Joan will soon also star in the biopic My Duchess, portraying the woman for whom Edward VIII gave up his throne to marry, causing a constitutional crisis, American socialite Wallis Simpson.

Despite her status as a legend of Hollywood, she recently spoke of how she still does a weekly food shop in a supermarket – but a recent trip to M&S went a little bit awry when “a man bumped into her with a trolley.”

The actress opts to go out “in a baseball cap and an anorak,” and was left “fuming” and in some pain due to the unfortunate trolley incident, and had to talk her husband down after he angrily confronted the man in response.

Recalling the mishap, Dame Joan told the Daily Mail Weekend Magazine of Percy’s response and her attempt to defuse the tense situation: “Fire came out of his eyes! And I said, ‘No, no, no, no, don’t darling! It’s fine, I’m not hurt.’

“I was, actually! Only slightly. You don’t like to be bumped with a trolley!” Dame Joan used the moment to back up her opinion that British people aren’t as polite these days, while crediting the younger members of her family as an exception to the rule.

“My grandchildren and my nephews and nieces are all very polite and well-mannered, but I’ve seen some young people who are not.

“I’ve seen some old people who are not too, like the man who bumped into me: he was in his late 60s. I think there’s a culture: Great Britain used to be known for everybody being incredibly polite and well-mannered. I don’t think we’re as polite now. We’re not known for our politeness as much as people in Spain and Italy, for example.”
