The Twisha Sharma death case is taking a new turn each day. The 33-year-old, who was found dead on May 12, 2026, in her marital home in Bhopal, has been generating noise even after weeks of her passing. The reason is the bereaved family’s allegations that severe dowry harassment, physical and mental torment by Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh and her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh pushed her to kill herself. Recently, after questioning by CBI, both the accused were ordered a 14-day extended judicial custody. Amid the latest updates regarding their prison deets, Samarth’s hideout has been revealed.
Where was Samarth Singh hiding for 10 days before surrendering?
After Twisha Sharma’s death, Samarth Singh disappeared without a trace for ten days before he claimed to have surrendered to the police. Amid that, a major question loomed, i.e., where was he hiding? Samarth, who carried a reward of Rs. 30,000, took refuge inside the chamber of the Principal District and Sessions Judge in Jabalpur, as revealed by Twisha Sharma’s counsel, Anurag Srivastava. He brought that up when Samarth’s mom, Giribala claimed that the lawyer assaulted his son within the Jabalpur High Court premises. Responding to that, Anurag made an explosive comment:
“How did a fugitive with a bounty on his head get refuge there? This itself requires an independent investigation.”

Samarth Singh’a lawyer claimed he was not on the run
Twisha Sharma’s husband’s lawyer, Mrigendra Singh, explicitly argued that his client was not hiding or on the run. In an interview with NDTV, the defence attorney said that Samarth was exercising his legal right to seek protection under the law. He specifically cited Section 482 of the new Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). According to the legal expert, the particular right can be availed by those who have been wrongfully accused of something they are not related to. Mrigendra mentioned they wanted to request liberty from the court first, but he ultimately advised Samarth to surrender once those options were no longer viable. He stated:
“He was not hiding. There’s a provision under section 482 of the new BNSS that gives every person the right to apply for anticipatory bail if he has been unnecessarily made an accused in a case that has no nexus with the person. So he availed that right, but then I advised him to better surrender.”

The lawyer further claimed that Samarth Singh had to disappear because he had no other option to avoid immediate arrest. Attorney, Mrigendra Singh shared the reason being that Twisha Sharma’s bereaved family hurled severe, non-bailable charges against Samarth, which involve up to 10 years of imprisonment. According to the lawyer, Samarth would have been arrested immediately, without a hearing, if he had made a public appearance at that time without legal safeguards. Mrigendra was quoted by NDTV as:
“Twisha’s family made all the wild allegations against Samarth and his mother (former judge Giribala Singh). They had already registered an offence against him, which was non-bailable. If Samarth and his mother had gone without a bail order, they would have been arrested immediately.”

Giribala Singh’s prisoner number and cell details revealed
Retired Bhopal district court judge, Giribala Singh, has been assigned the identity of Prisoner No. 71 at the Bhopal Central Jail, according to NDTV. A special CBI court in Bhopal sent her and her son, Samarth Singh, to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the death case of Twisha Sharma. The duo was remanded to judicial custody from June 2, 2026, to June 16, 2026. Samarth has been kept in Block B of Barrack No. 4 under observation, while Giribala is in the medical section of the women’s barracks along with four other female inmates.
