Hyderabad: Pre-monsoon activity intensified across parts of Telangana on Wednesday, with several districts recording light to moderate rainfall as weather conditions signalled a stronger transition towards the southwest monsoon.

According to Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) data recorded until 9 pm, Rangareddy district received the highest rainfall, led by Kethireddypalli in Moinabad mandal with 45.8 mm, followed by Shahbad with 41.3 mm and Mogiligidda in Farooqnagar mandal with 38.5 mm.

Rainfall was also reported from Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Nalgonda, Hanumakonda, Sangareddy, Khammam, Mulugu and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts. Bommalaramaram in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri recorded 34.5 mm, Urumadla Road in Chityala mandal of Nalgonda received 28.5 mm, and Verkat Palle in Valigonda mandal recorded 26.3 mm.

In Hyderabad and surrounding areas, Kondapur recorded 16 mm, Ramachandrapuram in Sangareddy 14.3 mm, and Muduchintalapally in Medchal-Malkajgiri 13.8 mm.

The cumulative rainfall report showed Bhadradri Kothagudem recorded the highest district-level average at 11.3 mm during the previous 24 hours, followed by Khammam with 7.3 mm. Telangana’s overall average rainfall stood at 1.3 mm for the day, categorised as “very light.”

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said moisture-laden winds and an upper air trough passing through Telangana were creating favourable conditions for thunderstorms and rainfall over the next few days.

The department forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds across several districts, including Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri, particularly during evening and night hours. Temperatures are expected to gradually reduce as monsoon conditions strengthen across the region.
