Vijayawada: The state-level Census-2027 authorities are aiming to collect amenities-wise data in villages and municipal bodies for preparation of a District Census Handbook between July and August.
In the village directory, data on nearly 400 parameters will be collected across several heads. In the section of educational facilities there are 25 parameters. In medical facilities, there are 24 parameters; in water and sanitation,27 parameters; in communication, transport facilities and connectivity, 28 parameters; in banks, credit and other miscellaneous facilities 28 parameters; in electricity and power/fuel availability three parameters; land utilisation and irrigation 18 parameters; and main agricultural commodities, manufacture and handicrafts nine parameters,and so on.
Similarly, in the town directory, data will be collected approximately on 420 parameters in several sections and these include: status and growth history 20 parameters; location particulars and climate of the town-10 parameters; civic and other amenities including infrastructure facilities 23 parameters; educational facilities 25 parameters; social, recreational and cultural facilities 11 parameters; industry and banking facilities eight parameters; medical facilities 24 parameters; and civic and other amenities in slums 20 parameters.
To collect data for preparation of DCHB, gram panchayat secretaries and municipal officials will be roped in for the respective villages and towns or urban local bodies.
The authorities are also getting ready for a population census in February 2027. They are taking up pre-test operations in an urban area and in a rural area, probably in September or October. They will also be testing all the relevant software applications to find out their functioning so as to use them for the population census exercise.
At present, the authorities are in the process of effecting corrections in the data collected for House Listing and Housing Census in the first phase of the Census-2027. They had noticed some mistakes in the data collected especially through the self-enumeration.
Then data would be collected on several issues like buildings, their type and condition, ownership, rooms, drinking water source, toilet facilities, electricity, lighting, cooking fuel, kitchen availability, household assets including vehicles, internet facility and head of the household.
State director of census, J Nivas, said, “We have been giving widespread publicity on Census-2027 on various platforms to ensure all the people take part in the exercise and submit authentic information on various issues as these will serve as benchmarks for formulating policies by both the state and central governments for the benefit of the people.”
