Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are marking their daughter Princess Lilibet’s fifth birthday today – and mum Meghan has shared a sweet family photo to mark the occasion
Meghan Markle has shared two sweet unseen photo of Princess Lilibet to mark her fifth birthday today.
The adorable snap, shared on the Duchess of Sussex’s social media, shows Prince Harry cradling their daughter, with Meghan looking on lovingly. Lilibet wore a white lace dress with her signature long hair flowing and bare feet. As Meghan has done in the past with her online photos of her children, Lilibet’s hair strategically fell to obscure her face.
She also shared a second snap of the youngster in their garden, as she placed her hand on a purple flower with her feet in the grass.
Meghan captioned the adorable family snaps: “Our dream girl. Happy 5th birthday, Lili,” alongside the heart emoji.
Lilibet, known as Lili, is Prince Harry and Meghan’s youngest daughter and was born on June 4, 2021 in California. She was named Lilibet Diana, paying tribute to her great-grandmother, the late Queen, and her grandmother, Princess Diana.
She is seventh in line to the throne and unlike her older brother Archie has never lived in the UK – only visiting once. She only became entitled to be a princess when her grandfather the King acceded to the throne, because of rules set out by King George V in 1917.
Harry and Meghan started using prince and princess for Archie and Lili after the princess’s christening in 2023, following correspondence with Charles about the matter. The youngster, who appears to have red hair like her father, has only met her grandfather, the King, once during a trip to the UK in 2022.
It came as the late Queen celebrated her Platinum Jubilee and during the trip Lilibet turned one, with Harry and Meghan having a party for her at their former home of Frogmore Cottage.
According to royal expert Duncan Larcombe, Lilibet’s birthday highlights the estrangement between the King and his youngest son, Harry. “I think King Charles is full of regrets over the whole situation, he definitely wouldn’t have wanted it to go this way,” he tells the Mirror. “He has spoken about how much he enjoys being a grandparent.”
Harry and Meghan marked Lilibet’s birthday last year by sharing a string of photos of the youngster with both her mum and dad as a baby.
Meghan also posted a video of her and Harry dancing and twerking to the song ‘Baby Mamma’ in hospital to try and spur on Lilibet’s birth as the Duchess had gone a week over her due date.
