Peter Frampton Shares Emotional Update On His Incurable Rare Degenerative Disease ‘I Know The End..’

After sharing his heartbreaking diagnosis, Peter Frampton recently discussed his ongoing battle with a rare degenerative condition. It has gradually affected his ability to play guitar, but the legendary singer has not given up trying. Instead, the 76-year-old shared that he still holds an optimistic outlook on life. In fact, he is grateful for the chance to build a successful life and have a wonderful family. 

Peter Frampton opens up about his health battle 

Peter Frampton recently sat down for an interview with Page Six. In his conversation, he opened up about his everyday life and how a rare and progressive muscle disease, Inclusion Body Myositis, has affected him. It is usually difficult for a person to live every day knowing that he is dealing with a health condition with no cure. Still, the Grammy-winner singer is managing it with grace and positivity. Although he admitted that it has started affecting his muscles and daily movements, he still chooses to focus on the positive side. In his words:

“My outlook on it is, ‘That’s life. I’ve been so lucky. I’ve had an up-and-down career, but in the long run, I look at the big picture. Look at the last 60 years. Wow, I’m the luckiest guy alive! I’m a very positive person. I know the endgame, but it doesn’t bother me.”

The 76-year-old admitted that he understands the reality of the disease and how it will affect him in the future. Yet, it is not going to let it control his life at present. According to Peter, he has been rather fortunate to have a 60-year career in music, and he has enjoyed every bit of it. So, the singer considers himself a lucky. At the same time, Peter is grateful for all the opportunities and experiences he has received throughout his life.

According to Cleveland Clinic, Peter’s disease (Inclusion Body Myositis,) mainly affects muscles. It includes fingers, wings, and legs. They are gradually weakened over time, and there is no way to stop it. However, physical therapy can help manage initial symptoms and slow its progression. In turn, Peter admitted that the disease has forced him to adapt to changes in his everyday life.

The Grammy-winner explained that he now uses a cane and other assistive devices to move around his home. In fact, it has also changed the way he used to play guitar. However, he is not feeling defeated. Rather, he is making adjustments to meet new challenges. At the same time, the diagnosis and condition have taught him important life lessons, such as kindness, empathy, and compassion. Sharing his learning, he said:

“It just made me realize that kindness is the most important thing because when you meet someone that you know or don’t know, you have no idea what’s going on in their life or in their body or whatever. So I just decided that I’m going to concentrate on kindness.”
