Broome man to face court on child abuse material charges
A Broome man is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today accused of purchasing child abuse material from the Philippines.
Australian Federal Police charged the 45-year-old after a tip-off from the Philippines National Police, who had been conducting their own investigation into the suspected sale and distribution of child abuse material.
Philippines police allegedly came across communications between an Australian phone number and the target of their investigation and notified the AFP, which allegedly traced the number to the Broome man.
Federal police were waiting for the man when he arrived at Perth Airport from a trip to the Philippines in February.
