A leading distributor says that the much hyped Peddi had registered good numbers in the Telugu states. “Ram Charan crowd pulling prowess had helped his film to draw sensational openings of Rs 39 crore net collections including Rs 16 crore from premier shows in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states in two days. But is garnering mixed reactions at some places, he adds.

He says that the sports centric drama has been reportedly sold for 150 crore in two Telugu states. “It has to sustain the momentum in the next few days, he adds. Ram Charan put in best of efforts to pull off a poorly written screenplay revolving around 1800 tribals who are seeking identity and respect. “It’s a wafer thin plot and dragging a film for 3 hrs and nine minutes around such a fictional plot truly added to audience woes,” he points out.

Surely, Ram Charan has drawn the openings on the strength of his name, while director Buchi Babu couldn’t live up to his promises he made before to release in various forums. “He thought of showcasing the plight of poor and underprivileged but when he tried to mix it with songs and action besides multiple sports, “he lost the emotion and story as well, “he concludes.
