The buzz around director S.S. Rajamouli’s ambitious globe-trotting adventure starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra continues to grow, with the film eyeing a massive worldwide release on April 7, 2027. As expectations soared for Rajamouli’s first project after the global success of RRR, veteran writer Vijayendra Prasad has now shared an intriguing clue about the film’s central conflict.

Speaking to the media, Vijayendra Prasad revealed that the story revolves around “a war between Rama and Kumbhakarna,” sparking widespread speculation among fans. Referring to footage that reportedly appeared in a recently showcased teaser, he said, “You saw Rama and Kumbhakarna. You saw Lord Hanuman’s tail with a chariot on it. That’s what I’m talking about.” However, he quickly stopped short of revealing further details about the plot.

When questioned about reports that the film incorporates multiple time zones and time-travel-like elements, Prasad chose to remain tight-lipped. “We shouldn’t talk about it anymore,” he said, further fueling curiosity surrounding the project.

Earlier, Rajamouli himself had spoken about Mahesh Babu’s transformation for the film. Recalling the actor’s first look test in the attire of Lord Rama, the filmmaker admitted he was deeply moved. “When Mahesh came in Lord Rama’s get-up for the photoshoot, I got goosebumps. Mahesh has the charm of Krishna and the calmness of Rama. I was so impressed that I even kept that photograph as my wallpaper for some time,” Rajamouli revealed.

The filmmaker also opened up about one of the film’s most challenging schedules, which recently wrapped up in Varanasi. According to Rajamouli, the sequence took nearly 60 days to complete and demanded extensive planning and execution.

“Every day was a challenge. Each episode and sub-episode felt like a film in itself. Everything had to be imagined and designed from scratch. After overcoming all those hurdles, we finally completed the sequence. I believe it will be one of the most memorable episodes in my career and in Mahesh Babu’s career as well,” Rajamouli said.

With mythological references, grand action set-pieces and Rajamouli’s trademark scale, the project is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Indian films of the decade. Fans are now eagerly waiting for an official glimpse that could shed more light on the mysterious battle between Rama and Kumbhakarna.
