Hyderabad: The women and child safety wing conducted awareness programmes across Hyderabad on Sunday as part of a state-wide campaign under the ‘Praja Palana – Pragathi Pranalika’ initiative.
The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) organised the drives at Borabanda basti, Rehmathnagar, Osmania General Hospital and Chowmahalla Palace, under the supervision of senior officers, including the deputy commissioner of police (Women & Child Safety Wing) and the assistant commissioner of police (AHTU & JB Unit).
Officials said the teams sensitised the public on gender issues, child safety and violence against women and children. They also highlighted the risks associated with cybercrime and precautions to be taken while using social media platforms.
The teams further created awareness on human trafficking, including its risks and preventive measures.
Citizens were encouraged to report incidents without fear and were informed about emergency helpline numbers, including 100 and 112 for police assistance, 1930 for cybercrime and 1098 for child helpline, according to a press release issued by the city police commissioner.
