Chevrolet and Ford lost out in their own backyard on Sunday, with Toyotas from three different organizations finishing 1-2-3 at Michigan International Speedway.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin claimed victory, 11.110 seconds clear of Legacy Motor Club’s Erik Jones in second, and 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace in third.
Kyle Larson led the way for Chevrolet in fourth, with Carson Hocevar fifth.
Sunday’s race featured 11 cautions, breaking a Michigan record that had stood since 2006. There was also a 20-minute red flag for wall repairs after a violent crash involving Chase Elliott and Christopher Bell.
13 cars failed to finish the race due to all of the carnage, including championship leader Tyler Reddick, who failed to finish a race for the first time this year.
