Amazon Prime Series, ‘Every Year After’ Plans Ahead To Expand ‘Percy’ And ‘Sam’s’ Romantic Story

Every Year After, the romantic series is gearing up for its digital premiere. For the unversed, Every Year After is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime on June 10, 2026. Developed by Amy B. Harris and Leila Gerstein, the romantic series stars Sadie Soverall, Matt Cornett, Aurora Perrineau, Abigail Cowen and more. The upcoming series follows the love story of Sadie Soverall as ‘Percy’ and Matt Cornett as ‘Sam’.

Plotline of Every Year After

The upcoming romantic drama series, Every Year After, is based on Carley Fortune’s Every Summer After. The story of Every Year After follows ‘Percy’ and ‘Sam’, who are best of friends. However, as they spent every summer together in Canada’s Barry Bay, love blossomed between ‘Percy’ and ‘Sam’. Everything was going well until ‘Percy’ committed a big mistake, due to which a dark secret was unveiled. This revelation tears the teens apart.

Years later, ‘Percy’ returns to attend ‘Sam’s’ mother, ‘Sue’s’ funeral, forcing the estranged lovers to finally confront each other. However, things are much more complicated as ‘Sam’, who is now a doctor, is dating a pediatric surgeon named ‘Taylor’. But as ‘Percy’ returns, ‘Sam’ realises that there have been some unresolved feelings between them. The story takes off when ‘Sam’ overcomes the never-ending battle between his head and his heart.

Every Year After, the upcoming romantic series has already created a buzz on social media. However, amid this, the series co-creator and showrunner, Amy Harris, hinted at ‘Percy’ and ‘Sam’ having their happily ever after. In a recent interview, Amy shared that every relationship needs a lot of work, and it’s the same for ‘Percy’ and ‘Sam’s’ story as well. She said:

“Even if you end up in a happy relationship, relationships are a lot of work, and they don’t come easily. And I think that’s also interesting to explore. I think Barry’s Bay has a lot more story to tell.”

Although Amazon Prime Video has not renewed the upcoming series for Season 2, the series co-creator and showrunner, Amy Harris, already has plans to expand the Every Year After universe. In the same interview, Amy Harris shared that she already sees the ‘Percy’ and ‘Sam’s’ story going on for five seasons. Amy mentioned that another book by Carley Fortune, One Golden Summer, might be an exciting blueprint for a potential Season 2. Amy said:

“I see five seasons. Obviously, there’s another book that’s connected to Barry’s Bay that I think will be a very exciting blueprint for us for a potential season 2.”

What to expect in the potential Every Year After Season 2?

According to Every Year After Season 2 co-creator and showrunner, Amy Harris, the potential Season 2 will be based on Carley Fortune’s One Golden Summer. In Season 1, alongside ‘Percy’ and ‘Sam’, the audience will also meet ‘Sam’s’ older brother, ‘Charlie’. While ‘Sam’ addresses his emotions, ‘Charlie’ prefers to keep them to himself. The potential Season 2 will focus on ‘Charlie’ as he finds love for himself. Regarding expanding the Every Year After universe, Amy said:

“We have these six main characters, and I think we’ll be adding characters as the seasons go on. I really see this as a series, and it’s why we built it the way we did, so that we can come back and explore a lot more romance. We have lots more to say both about Percy and Sam’s love story, but also about these other characters who hopefully people will come to love as much as they do Percy and Sam.”
