The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a social media-driven group that recently organised protests, on Wednesday announced an indefinite sit-in at Jantar Mantar from June 20 if Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan does not resign.
The announcement follows a protest held by the group in the national capital last week over alleged irregularities in examinations.
In a statement, the CJP said it would also organise protests in multiple cities, beginning with Pune on June 11, followed by Lucknow, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Jaipur and Hyderabad, adding that the agitation would continue until the minister steps down.
Calling the issue a national concern affecting students and families, the group said, “The education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, has failed to take responsibility for these repeated failures. Accountability must begin at the top. That is why we reiterate our demand: Dharmendra Pradhan should resign.”
“If the government does not answer this demand and remove the minister, or if he does not offer his resignation, the youth of this country will gather together on June 20 at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for an indefinite peaceful sit-in protest till the minister resigns. We will not leave until accountability is delivered,” it added.
The group described the campaign as a movement to defend the integrity of the education system and invited students, parents and teachers to participate.
In a post on X, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said climate activist Sonam Wangchuk would join the Pune protest.
The group has gained visibility in recent weeks through social media campaigns and demonstrations, including its protest at Jantar Mantar, and has positioned itself as a youth-led movement raising concerns over examination processes.
The protests are expected to continue across cities as part of its campaign seeking accountability.
