
Hyderabad: In a major anti-narcotics operation after months of surveillance, EAGLE Force Telangana, in coordination with Abdullapurmet police and the Clues team of LB Nagar zone, busted an illegal mephedrone (MD) manufacturing unit and arrested two persons, including an accused with a long criminal history linked to drug manufacturing, murder and robbery.
The arrested accused were identified as Keesari Matsyagiri, 38, a finance businessman from Thirumalagiri in Suryapet district, and Nimmala Naresh, 38, a resident of Mothkur in Yadadri-Bhongir district. The duo was apprehended at Batasingaram, Abdullapurmet, while transporting 750 grams of mephedrone worth ₹50 lakh for sale.
Police said Matsyagiri was an active member of an international gang allegedly involved in manufacturing mephedrone and controlled substance ephedrine across India since 2015. Investigators found that he had earlier worked as a chemist at a chemicals firm in Bacharam, where he learned the formula for manufacturing mephedrone after coming into contact with gang members from Gujarat.
According to EAGLE Force officials, Matsyagiri was previously involved in jewellery looting cases and a murder case registered at Kukatpally police station in 2017. He was arrested in 2022 after the DRI raided a drug lab in Chengicherla and seized 136 kg of mephedrone. After release from jail, he allegedly resumed drug manufacturing.
Police said the accused set up a makeshift manufacturing unit in a mango farm under the guise of producing face powder and procured chemicals including bromine, toluene, acetone and hydrochloric acid to manufacture the drug. Besides 750 grams of mephedrone, police seized factory equipment, chemicals, a car and three mobile phones, taking the total seizure value to nearly `1 crore. Efforts are underway to nab other absconding gang members.
Hyderabad Court Sentences 3 to Two Years Rigorous Imprisonment for Auto Driver Robbery
Judge G. Prabhakar, XVI Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, on Friday convicted three persons of robbing an autorickshaw driver and sentenced them to two years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of `100 each. The trio of Mohammed Mubeen, Muzaffer Ali Khan, and Mohammed Shah Fiaz Patel had robbed the driver of a mobile phone and `5,000 at knifepoint near 100 Feet Road, Jiyaguda. Based on the driver’s complaint, police lodged an FIR and commenced investigations. Police subsequently arrested the trio and seized the motorcycle used in the offence. Police recovered the stolen mobile phone and the knife that was used to intimidate the drive.
Cyberabad: Couple Booked for ₹3.05 Crore Fraud Over Fake Movie Hero Launch
The Cyberabad economic offences wing (EOW) police registered a cheating and criminal intimidation case against a couple and a film production company for allegedly duping a city-based businessman of over `3.05 crore under the guise of producing a feature film and launching his son as a hero.
According to police, the case was transferred from the Kukatpally police to EOW as the alleged financial fraud exceeded `3 crore. EOW re-registered the case under the BNS.
The accused stated that the duo as as a couple and a film production company approached the complainant through a common acquaintance and claimed they were producing a film while searching for a male lead. They assured the complainant that his son would be launched as the hero and promised fame, publicity and career opportunities in the film industry.
Believing the representations, the complainant transferred `3.05 crore through banking channels between September 2024 and December 2025. The accused had also collected a cheque worth `45 lakh. However, except for an initial phase of shooting in December 2024, the film project allegedly did not progress.
The accused later executed an acknowledgement deed admitting liability of about `4.5 crore and issued promissory notes and cheques. However, the cheques were dishonoured. The complainant further alleged criminal intimidation when repayment was sought.
2 killed in car-lorry collision in Jangaon
Two persons died and three others were injured after a car collided head-on with a lorry at Nawabpet in Lingalaghanpur mandal of Jangaon district, police said on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Mohammed Subhan, 30, and Mohammed Imran, 31. The injured were identified as Majid, Noor and Sameer.
The accident took place around 12.30 am at a road curve near Nawabpet when the car and the lorry, coming from opposite directions, collided. The victims, from different places in erstwhile Warangal district, were returning to Hanamkonda after attending a function at a relative’s house in Miryalaguda of Nalgonda district.
Police said Subhan, who was driving the car, died on the spot, while Imran died while being shifted to hospital in an ambulance. The three injured persons were shifted to the District Government Hospital at Jangaon.
Lingalaghanpur police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Court Issues NBW Against MLA Danam Nagender’s Daughter
The IX Metropolitan Magistrate Court has issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Danam Maneesha, daughter of Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, and another accused in an Negotiable Instruments (NI) Act-related case after their absence during court proceedings.
The case was filed by Syed Zainulla Abedin against Abhiman Infracon and Projects Pvt. Ltd., represented by Divyang Lavania along with Abhinav Kishen Puvvala and Danam Maneesha with Sultan Bazar police registered in 2022.
Court records dated December 30, 2025, showed that while the complainant and the second accused were present before the court, the two other accused were absent. A petition filed under Section 309 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) was heard and dismissed, following which the court ordered issuance of a non-bailable warrant against the two accused. The matter was subsequently adjourned.
Court proceedings dated June 8 indicated that a special vakalat was filed on behalf of the two accused and was allowed by the court. The matter was posted for examination. According to court records, the next hearing in the case is scheduled for July 7. Meanwhile, no arrests have been made by the Sultan Bazaar police.
Banjara Hills: 2 GHMC Officials Booked for Assaulting Traffic Constable
Banjara Hills police registered a case against two GHMC officials following allegations that they assaulted a traffic police constable during an altercation in Banjara Hills. Police registered the case under BNS sections related to allegations of obstructing and assaulting a public servant while on duty.
The case was booked against GHMC Jubilee Hills circle sanitary inspector Amit and assistant engineer Anand based on a complaint lodged by traffic constable E. Srisailam. The police official, who is attached to the traffic wing alleged that the incident occurred while he was discharging his official duties.
The incident took place following an altercation between the traffic constable and the GHMC officials, after which the matter escalated and a formal police complaint was lodged. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the alleged assault and determine individual roles in the incident.
