21-Year-Old Brazilian Fitness Enthusiast Dies In Bungee Jump Tragedy As Crew Forgets To Attach Rope

A 21-year-old fitness enthusiast and student from Brazil, Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, who died in a fatal accident during an adventure sport. For the unversed, Maria passed away after the crew at a rope-jumping activity in Brazil’s Sao Paulo state forgot to attach the rope. Soon, what looked like a lifetime of adventure ended the 21-year-old’s life in a gruesome way.

Who was Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas?

Maria Educarda was famous for documenting her life and showing her passion for fitness and sports. She lived in Jandira in the São Paulo metropolitan region and fell nearly 40 meters from a bridge during a rope jumping activity. As per her social media profile, she studied Physical Education and Sports Management and worked at a gym.  She would often share a glimpse of her workout routines. 

Maria Eduarda’s last post before the fatal rope jump accident

Maria shared glimpses of her before her fatal death on Instagram. She shared a post at 7:30 a.m. on June 13, 2026, which featured a photo from the location. Along with it, she revealed who the crazy person was who let her jump off a bridge. It soon became her final post. Her post can be read as:

“Who was the crazy person that let me jump off a bridge?”

What happened with Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas?

The accident happened on June 13, 2026, at Limeira’s Skeleton Bridge, where she wanted to take a rope-jumping experience. In this extreme sport, participants make a pendulum jump while attached to safety ropes and climbing equipment. However, as per the information from the Military Police, during Maria’s sports activity, there was a big mistake. Witnesses revealed that authorities didn’t attach Maria to the main rope line, and she was launched from the platform in haste. 

In a clip that has been surfacing on the internet, it shows Maria being carried by three instructors before they pushed her off the bridge. However, soon the witnesses found that something was wrong, and she died after falling off the cliff. There were many witnesses to the horrific accident. A frightened voice in the clip was heard shouting, “People, the rope.” while another cried, “Guys, the rope.”

Maria fell approximately 40 meters and suffered traumatic injuries and died at the scene. The investigation is underway, and so far, six people have been taken to the local police station for questioning, while three are still detained. As per reports, it is claimed that after the horrific accident, two instructors tried to flee from the scene through the forest, but police caught them using helicopters. The company even deleted all their social media accounts after the fateful accident. It is worth adding that the location is an abandoned bridge, which is famous for rope jumping.

As soon as the video surfaced, netizens flooded the comments section expressing their horror at how the situation unfolded. One user wrote, “Skipping safety steps in high-risk activities… They fucking forgot the goddamn safety rope for EVERYONE!! How the hell can that happen, and how the hell didn’t she notice? That should’ve been the very first thing to worry her.” Another one commented, “Seriously, with all those people there, photos, videos, and nobody noticed she wasn’t tied up?” A third user penned, “The images make it look less like a professional, regulated extreme sports business and more like a completely reckless, back-alley operation. It is pure cowboy behaviour, and it cost a young woman her life while risking theirs in the process.”
