Singer Oliver Tree has died at the age of 32, having been involved in a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro. Five other people were killed in the tragic accident

A major singer has died in a helicopter crash, it has been reported tonight. American star Oliver Tree was among the people who died after two helicopters collided above an electric vehicle yard in Rio.

The singer, born Oliver Tree Nickel, was discovered in the city’s Southwest district. Other victims included Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim, Lucas Brito Chaves, as well as pilots Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac.

Oliver, famed for hits including Miss You and Life Goes On, had been in South America for his The World’s First Tour. Just days prior to his tragic death, he had performed in São Paulo and was due to resume performing on July 13, in Lisbon, Portugal.

He first shot to fame aged just 17, working with Skrillex and Zeds Dead, using the pseudonym Tree. Three years later, he released his debut independent record, Spilling Branches, and also joined the band Irony, taking lead vocals and guitar.
