Ed Sheeran has revealed that he’s preparing to take some time away from the spotlight in order to spend time with his family following the completion of his Loop Tour

Ed Sheeran has confirmed he’s taking time away from music. The hitmaker is currently on the American leg of his Loop Tour, which saw him take to the stage at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Saturday.

With Ed’s American leg set to end on November 7 in Tampa, he’ll head to Latin America to perform for crowds in Chile, Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico, with his final date on December 12 in Mexico City.

However, despite fans cheering all night long at Ed’s gigs, it now appears that he will be taking time away from the industry. Instead of touring and releasing music, he’ll be devoting time to his family.

“This is gonna be my last time here in a while,” he told fans in Arizona. He went on to add: “I might take some time off once this tour has ended and sort of do the dad thing.

“So if I don’t see you for a while, I love you, thank you for coming.” Ed, 35, shares his two daughters, Lyra, 5, and Jupiter, 4, with his wife, Cherry Seaborn, whom he married in 2019.

Ed has been on the road since January 16, kick-starting his Loop Tour at the Go Media Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand. And he’s no stranger to long tours; his – Tour saw him perform 29 shows across four legs, starting in the UK on March 23, 2023, and ending on September 22, 2023, in Los Angeles.

Prior to this, his +−=÷× Tour (The Mathematics Tour) spanned 188 shows, over five continents, starting on April 23, 2022 and ending on September 7, 2025.

However, it won’t be the first time Ed has taken time out from his impressive career. In 2015, he took nine months off following the success of his second album, Multiply, which sold over 9 million copies worldwide. In the UK alone, the record was certified Platinum 13 times.

After his Divide tour, Ed also took 18 months out. Last month, Ed beat his pal Taylor Swift to be named the UK’s most-played artist in 2025, according to music licensing agency PPL (Phonographic Performance Limited).

He topped the agency’s chart of the most-played artists across radio, TV and public places for the eighth time in 11 years, with Swift in second, followed by British pop star Dua Lipa in third.

Sheeran said: “I am so grateful to be named most-played artist across TV, radio and venues across the UK for an incredible eighth time. A huge thanks to everyone who has played my music over the last year and over the last 15 years. I really appreciate the continuing support.”

According to PPL, Sheeran’s music is played an average of 574 times per day, equating to 24 plays per hour. The rest of the top 10 was made up of Calvin Harris (four), David Guetta (five), Coldplay (six), Sir Elton John (seven), Ariana Grande (eight), Sabrina Carpenter (nine) and Lady Gaga (10).

Myles Smith’s Nice To Meet You was the most-played track on radio, TV and in public places during 2025, followed by Lola Young’s Messy in second, Alex Warren’s Ordinary at three and Sam Fender’s People Watching in fourth.

Smith said: “Having the most-played song in the UK last year with Nice To Meet You and seeing Stargazing still in the top 10 – honestly, it still doesn’t feel real.

“I’m so grateful to everyone who has listened to my fans who have been with me from the beginning and to everyone at radio and in the venues who has supported the music. It means everything.”
