Adilabad: The Congress has stepped up efforts to mobilise booth-level agents (BLA-2) against alleged deletion of voter names during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, amid concerns over loss of support base.

Party leaders said awareness programmes were being conducted to train BLA-2 workers to verify voter lists, identify deletions and restore names of party sympathisers.

Addressing a meeting in Mancherial, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka urged party cadre to scrutinise voter lists and take steps to reinstate removed entries.

He said, “He described the SIR as a major scam in the country and asked BLA-2 workers to use family members’ entries in the voter list to help restore deleted votes.”

Congress leaders alleged that the SIR process posed a threat to the electoral system and accused the BJP of manipulating voter lists in states where it is in power.

Party functionaries said BLA-2 workers were verifying deleted or unmapped votes and examining the background of affected voters.

In Adilabad, the District Congress Committee conducted a similar awareness programme. DCC president Naresh Jadhav said efforts were under way to protect voter names and strengthen the party’s base.

He said party workers were closely checking additions, deletions and changes in electoral rolls under the SIR process, and added that further training programmes for BLA-2 workers would be organised by the TPCC.
