Breakfast, Meals in Government Junior Colleges From Today

Hyderabad: For the first time, day scholars in government junior colleges in Telangana will get breakfast with a glass of milk, and midday meals.

This giant leap towards overall well-being of intermediate students by providing two nutritious meals a day will begin from Monday. Though classes in junior colleges began on June 1, the breakfast and midday meals will commence from June 15.

The breakfast menu comprises dosa and chutney on Monday, two millet idlis and sambar on Tuesday, two pooris and along with vegetable kurma on Wednesday, two bondas and chutney or sambar on Thursday, two idlis and chutney/sambar on Friday and upma and chutney/sambar on Saturday.

The government also will provide hot milk to students in all government Junior colleges along with their breakfast. Milk will be provided three times a week with each student getting a 150 ml serving.

The breakfast for full-day colleges will be delivered before 8 am, while half-day institutions will receive it before 7 am, according to officials of Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE). “Mid-day meals for government junior colleges will be delivered before 12.30 pm for full-day sessions and before 11 am for half-day sessions,” an official said.

A total of 33 government junior colleges covering 14,425 students will receive both morning breakfast and midday meals. While the Hare Krishna Movement will serve 21 colleges with 10,293 students in Hanamkonda, Narayanpet, Vikarabad and Warangal districts, Mana Trust will serve 12 colleges with 4,132 students in Hyderabad and Medchal Malkajgiri districts.
