Brooklyn Beckham has been heavily criticised for his digs at his parents during
Brooklyn Beckham has made a string of digs at the expense of his parents in a new World Cup advert. The amateur chef and photographer has caused a stir with his latest promotional video for DoorDash, which pokes fun at his parents David and Victoria Beckham and their very public feud.
In the ad, Brooklyn can be seen sat on his couch before saying: “You’re probably wondering why I’m watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home.” He then chuckles and throws his World Cup tickets onto a coffee table and says: “It’s a long story.”
The words: “It’s complicated, more soon,” then appear on screen alongside the unused tickets and some rather poignant digs at his famous family. Despite being seconds long, the ad has caused quite a stir.
Brooklyn’s family are said to be devastated by the advert. A source said: “To do an ad based on estrangement from family as if it’s a joke when his family is devastated and sister and grandparents are inconsolable … It just seems a tad hypocritical from someone claiming to want peace and privacy and the trying to cash in on it all.
“He says he wants nothing to do with his family, but is now trading off them by using one of his footballing father’s legacies – the World Cup – as an advertising selling point. Brooklyn is absolutely entitled to go and make his own money – his parents laud such ambition – but taking the mick out of a deep-rooted, heartbreaking family situation is not the one.”
Here, The Mirror takes a look at all the digs Brooklyn has made in the video…
Unused tickets
World Cup tickets are notoriously difficult – and expensive – to get hold of, but unlikely for Sir David Beckham, a footballing legend. The World Cup is taking place in North America this year, where Brooklyn lives.
His family have flown out to Los Angeles for David’s recent Walk of Fame ceremony, but Brooklyn did not attend. David has also been spotted at the World Cup since it kicked off last week.
David also played in three World Cups over his lengthy career – 1998, 2002 and 2006. Sadly, England never won the World Cup during that time so the World Cup is one trophy David hasn’t lifted.
Watch from dad
Despite their fallout, Brooklyn has been showing off the expensive watch brought for him by his dad David. His family gave him a £250,000 Patek Philippe Nautilus watch to mark his 21st birthday and he still continues to wear it despite their fallout.
Even though the watch isn’t the one he was gifted, it bears a striking resemblance to the timepiece gifted by David all those years ago, and a swipe at the luxury item Brooklyn continues to show off even after their feud.
Burnt pizza and old camera
In a nod to the critics of Brooklyn’s career changes as a photographer and a chef, the table features a burnt pizza and a camera. Whilst still finding his career, Brooklyn has tried a handful of jobs.
He released a photography book titled What I See and also attended the Parsons School of Design in New York as he tried to pursue his photography dream, spurred on by his famous parents.
More recently, he has tried his hand at being a chef – including a social media video series titled “Cooking with Brooklyn”. He has come under fire for his lack of professional training – and his making of sandwiches…
Unopened letters
In a devastating swipe to his family, unopened letters can be shown on the table. Fans will know Harper came by the house to deliver a letter in person but didn’t get an answer as Brooklyn was in New York with Nicola Peltz.
Also, it has been reported that Brooklyn has asked his family to only contact him via his lawyers, leaving the family reeling. The family were reportedly told by Brooklyn’s team that they didn’t want any personal contact with his parents or siblings.
