How to watch U.S. Open on Thursday

In his long career near the top of the pro game, Rory McIlroy has only won two majors in a single season once. That came way back in 2014. Twelve years later, McIlroy sets out on his 2026 U.S. Open campaign at Shinnecock Hills with a chance to repeat the feat.

He’s in that position thanks to his 2026 Masters victory in April, which represented his second straight win at Augusta National.

He sounded confident in his pre-tournament press conference on Monday, and heading into Round 1 at Shinnecock, McIlroy’s game is in good shape. Whether or not he and the other competitors can successfully navigate brutal winds and difficult greens on Thursday is another matter.

McIlroy gets his U.S. Open started early Thursday morning at 7:52 a.m. ET, and he’ll play with European Ryder Cup teammates Ludvig Åberg and Tommy Fleetwood.

You can watch the first round of the U.S. Open on TV via USA and NBCSN, with USA opening the coverage at 6:30 a.m. ET on Thursday. The Round 1 TV coverage will switch to NBCSN at 5 p.m. ET, with a live simulcast available on Peacock. Peacock, USOpen.com and the USGA app will provide featured group coverage starting Thursday morning at 7:29 a.m. ET.
