HYDERABAD: The Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL, southern discom) has launched a special tree-pruning and line-clearance drive across Cybercity circle to improve power-line safety and strengthen supply reliability. The operation focused on Kondapur, KPHB Colony and Gachibowli sections.
Chief engineer, RR zone, L. Pandya inspected the clearance works and distributed advanced tree pruners and smart phones to the operations and maintenance staff of Cybercity circle. The discom is providing battery operated chain-saw machines to all 59 divisional engineers in the city limits, 168 battery operated pole pruners and 530 hand-held trimmers. It also provided 217 smart phones to each fuse-off call office, intended to enhance field inspections, consumer complaint monitoring, real-time communication, work-progress reporting and digital monitoring.
Discom officials said the new equipment will enable safer removal of branches near conductors and poles, reducing risks of conductor contact, feeder trippings and other faults that cause power interruptions. The programme was attended by senior officials Chandrasekhar, Shyam Kumar, Manikyalu, Kamalakar Reddy, Shivaprasad, Adinarayana and Sainath.
