Stacey Solomon’s showbiz friend revealed what she and Rylan Clark are really like behind the scenes, as she reflected on their shared roots in reality television
Vicky Pattison has opened up about what Stacey Solomon is really like to work with behind the scenes. The latter first rose to fame after auditioning for The X Factor in 2009, where she finished in third place.
Since then, Stacey, 36, has gone on to build a hugely successful career and has amassed an impressive six million followers on Instagram.
Discussing reality television, Kate Thornton named three stars she believes have enjoyed remarkable success despite not initially being taken seriously by viewers and producers alike.
Speaking to Vicky, she said: “There’s you, there’s Rylan [Clark], there’s Stacey Solomon, and you’re doing it your way, right.
“You’ve built really rock solid careers, where you own your audience and broadcasters come to you because of what you bring to their table not vice versa.”
She went on to say: “The common thread between the three of you that I’ve mentioned there is you were cut as a joke, Rylan was cut as a joke in the edit, Stacey, it was a bit like, ‘Oh look at her, sweet but the lights aren’t really on are they?’ You, ‘Look at her, she’s drunk again’ and actually you’ve all ended up having the last laugh.”
In response, Vicky shared her thoughts on Stacey and Rylan, having previously worked with both stars.
“They’re gorgeous and they are exactly as they seem. She is so fun and such a normal girl’s girl and a lovely woman,” the former Geordie Shore star gushed.
She went on to describe Rylan as “the life and soul of the party” who is “hilarious and quick-witted” before adding that he and Stacey are “both so smart”.
“And despite that public perception, which is very real, very genuine, that is exactly what they are, they are real and they’re real smart.
“And I think reality TV has a real way of creating two-dimensional characters that work for their narrative, that work for their storylines,” she added on the White Wine Question Time podcast.
“Heaven forbid you be a three-dimensional, multifaceted woman who can be opinionated and strong and sassy,” she added.
After finding fame on The X Factor, Stacey went on to win I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2010, where she first crossed paths with her husband Joe Swash.
She has since fronted a number of successful television projects, including Sort Your Life Out, and has appeared on shows such as Britain’s Got Talent, alongside securing several lucrative brand partnerships.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Stacey is believed to have a net worth of around £3.8 million.
Speaking previously about her success, the former X Factor star admitted she struggles with imposter syndrome, a psychological pattern described by persistent self-doubt despite clear evidence of achievement.
After launching a collection with Primark in 2024, she said on Instagram: “The thing is, it doesn’t matter how many times I’m lucky enough to do this, the imposter syndrome is real.
“I am honestly so, so grateful for you guys and your support. It’s down to you that I get these chances and I’ll never take it for granted. Please let me know what you think. To the moon and back always.”
