Adilabad: Former minister Jogu Ramanna on Friday alleged irregularities in the acquisition of land for a proposed industrial park in Adilabad.
He claimed that some political leaders, including MLA Payal Shankar, had purchased land at lower prices in Bhoraj mandal and were planning to sell it to the state government at higher rates for the project.
Ramanna said documents related to the identified land parcels would be released and added that a public interest litigation would be filed in the High Court seeking return of lands of the Cement Corporation of India to farmers from whom they were acquired for setting up the factory.
He also said there was no clarity on the handling of lands belonging to the closed Adilabad unit of the corporation.
The BRS leader said party working president K.T. Rama Rao would visit Boath on Saturday to console the family of a farmer who died by suicide and interact with farmers.
Ramanna criticised the state government over procurement of crops such as paddy, jowar and maize, and alleged delays in payments to farmers.
