Earlier this month Rylan Clark was asked about how he felt about his boyfriend Kennedy Bates being away whilst he was on air with Sally Boazman

Earlier this year radio presenter and former X Factor contestant Rylan Clark marked the one year anniversary of his relationship with his boyfriend Kennedy Bates.

Rylan, who has spoken frankly and openly about his romantic and personal life in recent years, mentioned his partner again, this time on BBC Radio 2 on June 13th.

Speaking with Sally Boazman after her traffic bulletin, Rylan was asked what his plans were for that specific evening. In response, he said: “Nothing, little bit of dinner, quiet night.

“My cousin Kimberley’s staying at mine at the moment because her house ain’t finished. I just love having people round because the boy’s not here at the minute. He’s on a stag do, so it’s like the first time.”

In response to this information, Sally replied: “Oh this is a test isn’t it?”

To Sally’s response, Rylan replied: “It’s not a test, don’t do that to me.”

Sally then clarified: “I mean it’s a test for your own emotional wellbeing.”

To this Rylan responded with a little bit of clarification on the nature of his feelings for his partner whilst he was away.

He said: “It is. I just miss him. I just miss him, but it’s strange because obviously where he is. The time difference is quite vast. So, I’m waking up every morning and he’s still on a night out. It’s awful but…”

Sally said: “So you’re constantly waiting for a text.”

Rylan then joked: “Oh I am like woman possessed. No. No, I’m all good. He’s having a lovely time, and that’s what I wanted him to do. I wanted him to go and have a great time.”

Sally then replied: “I mean it’s quite nice I think to miss somebody because then you kind of realise that you really miss them.

Rylan the explained he was going to go and pick up his boyfriend from the airport at seven o’clock in the morning.

Outside of his romantic relationships Rylan has a very strong platonic friendship with fellow television presenter Rob Rinder.

On two occasions the pair have travelled the world making travel programmes for the BBC, leading to a strong on screen dynamic.

More recently Rob, 48, has discussed that dynamic and expressed to presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley on This Morning as he talked about the pair’s new show.

Cat said: “One of my favourite shows is when you and Rylan go off on your travels together. I love the funny bits, I love the sad bits, I love the bits when you’re floating down the River Ganges talking about life. It’s a dream job!”

In response, Rob said: “It is an exquisitely dream job, to do it with someone who is so intelligent and who I genuinely, in a very benign way, let me be clear, in a platonic way, love.

“The whole point of it is that we learnt from each other and there’s no big hierarchy of art or culture. If you delight in something, you should not only enjoy it yourself, but also bring as many people into it as well.”
