A while back, Shohei Ohtani took to his Instagram handle to announce that his second baby with his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, has arrived. The MLB star also missed the Dodgers game scheduled on June 19, 2026, in anticipation of the birth of his second baby. Along with a text-filled image note, Shohei shared an adorable snap featuring the feet of the newborn. However, he has not revealed the gender of his second baby. In the note, Shohei expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported them throughout this journey. His note can be read as:
“We are again overjoyed to experience this wonderful day in our lives together. Thank you for being born safely. We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us throughout this journey. Shohei, Mamiko.”

Soon after Shohei shared his second baby arrival post, netizens flooded the comment section with congratulatory messages. A user wrote, “Shohei and Mamiko. Wishing you and your newborn many years of good health, love, and happiness. You two are going to make the most fantastic parents. Congratulations!” Internet personality, Justice Alexander commented, “Congrats to the Ohtani family.” Another comment can be read as:

Shohei and Mamiko reportedly first met in Japan before he joined the Los Angeles Dodgers. They allegedly practised in the same sports training centre. The couple have kept their personal life very private. The pair surprised everyone in 2024 by tying the knot. It was Shohei who took to his Instagram handle in February 2024, to announce that he got married. At the time, he left a message in Japanese for his fans and kept Mamiko’s identity hidden. According to the Associated Press and CNN, the translation of Shohei’s Japanese message can be read as:
“The season is approaching, I am pleased to announce to you that I have gotten married. We are still young and there are many things we don’t know yet, but we hope you will warmly watch over us. We hope that the two of us (and one dog) will work together to support each other and move forward alongside with our fans. I don’t really feel comfortable talking about when I got married exactly.”
In the caption, the Dodgers star mentioned that his better half is a native of Japan. He stated that his wife is very special to him. Shohei then added that he is excited to experience his new journey with his ladylove. Two weeks after announcing his marriage to Mamiko, Shohei posed with his wife, Mamiko, as they boarded a plane to Seoul, South Korea, where the Los Angeles Dodgers were set to play. On April 19, 2025, Shohei announced the arrival of his first child, a baby girl with Mamiko.
