Nalgonda: Two children died and their mother remains in critical condition following an alleged suicide attempt linked to marital differences in Khammam, police said on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Bobbala Vedic (7) and Thanush (5). Their mother, Swathi, remains in critical condition.
According to police, the incident occurred on Saturday night at the family’s rented house on Pumping Well Road in Gandhi Nagar. Neighbours who noticed the situation rushed the three to a hospital.
However, the two children succumbed while undergoing treatment on Sunday morning.
Police said Swathi and her husband, Lingaraju, had been facing marital differences for some time.
The couple, along with their two sons, had been living in Khammam for the past two years.
Investigators said the dispute reportedly intensified after Lingaraju proposed shifting the family back to his native village of Gurralapadu. He works at a mobile phone shop in Khammam.
Swathi is a native of Narsimhapuram in Chinthakani mandal, while Lingaraju belongs to Gurralapadu in Yedulapuram mandal. The couple married about nine years ago and initially lived in Gurralapadu before moving to Khammam.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
