Hyderabad: A 43-year-old labourer from West Bengal died in an explosion that occurred in an open area at Badangpet, Meerpet police said on Sunday. The victim, Anup Pradhan, had arrived in Hyderabad three days ago and had taken up work at the godown.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred while he was handling and moving plastic boxes that allegedly contained an unidentified chemical solvent. Police said the impact of the explosion was such that the victim’s body was dismembered. Residents alerted the police, following which officials rushed to the scene and secured the area.
Police and forensic experts conducted an inspection of the site to collect evidence and determine the exact cause of the explosion. Samples of the substance found at the location have been collected for scientific analysis. Investigators are trying to ascertain the nature of the chemical involved and whether safety protocols were being followed while handling the material.
