Nellore: A political dispute broke out in Nellore on Monday over inspections conducted at Krishna Chaitanya Educational Institutions linked to YSRC MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy, with the Opposition alleging targeted action and the government rejecting the charge.

Former minister and YSRC district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy, along with 18 MLCs, ZP xhairperson Anam Arunamma and other party leaders, staged a protest near the Dr B.R. Ambedkar statue at VRC Centre. The protesters alleged that the coalition government had singled out the institutions because Chandrasekhar Reddy had been raising issues concerning the government, including the DSC recruitment process.

Addressing the gathering, Govardhan Reddy alleged that the inspections reflected a vindictive approach towards opposition leaders and institutions. He said the YSRC would continue to oppose what the party described as political intimidation.

Responding to the allegations, municipal administration and urban development minister Dr Ponguru Narayana dismissed the charges and said notices issued by authorities over alleged violations were part of the normal administrative process and not a political matter.

The minister said institutions should address any deficiencies pointed out by authorities instead of resorting to protests. He maintained that the coalition government had no intention of targeting educational institutions or businesses and that action would be taken strictly in accordance with the law wherever violations were found.
