Away from Coronation Street, Mikey North is loved-up with his wife and the pair are parents to two children

Mikey North has been a staple on Coronation Street for years and it turns out he has a rather famous wife.

Mikey joined the ITV soap back in 2008 playing Gary Windass. Gary rocked up to the cobbles with the rest of the Windass family, including mum Anna (Debbie Rush). And it didn’t take him long to become a firm favourite.

The builder also played a part in several big storylines over the years. From his romances on the cobbles to his PTSD battle, Gary’s time in Weatherfield has not been short of drama.

Especially at the moment, as in recent weeks he has been a main suspect in Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) murder case. The abuser was murdered in April after his reign of terror over Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) was exposed.

Recently though, Gary has been acting rather suspiciously, along with former flame Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien). And in Monday’s (June 22) explosive episode it was revealed that Theo’s killer is none other than Sarah, and Gary helped cover it up.

Away from the ITV soap though, Mikey lives a much less dramatic life with his wife and two children. The soap favourite is married to actress wife Rachael Isherwood. The pair got married back in 2016 after meeting three years prior. Mikey and Rachael have two children together, a son named Archie, born in 2017, and a daughter named Eliza, born in 2019.

As for Rachael, she’s no stranger to appearing on screens. The fitness instructor had a major role in Hollywood Blockbuster Captain America: The First Avenger back in 2011, as MCU Fandom reports. Rachael played the role of a USO dancer.

Mikey and Rachael welcomed their baby son Archie into the world on 10 November 2016. However, the experience wasn’t straightforward, as Rachael nearly required a blood transfusion after complications with her episiotomy, with Mikey likening the scene to something resembling a “chainsaw massacre”.

“I had to have an episiotomy but unfortunately they cut through a vein and I lost one and a half litres of blood,” Rachael revealed to OK! magazine. The distressing few hours leading up to little Archie’s arrival also involved Rachael being placed on a drip to accelerate her contractions, which she described as more excruciating than anything she’d previously endured.

“She was throwing up with the pain,” said Mikey. “I had tears in my eyes just watching.” Fortunately, baby Archie eventually arrived after 20 hours weighing 8lb 5oz.

Mikey popped the question to Rachael during a romantic getaway in the Lake District in 2015. Recalling the proposal, Mikey shared with OK!: “I asked her to shut her eyes.

“When she opened them I was down on one knee with the ring. I was looking up at Rachael, with my knees getting wet, and I just said: ‘Will you marry me?'”. He added: “In the moment before I proposed I was shaking like a leaf. Then when she said yes, I called my mum and just couldn’t stop crying.”

Fast forward to 2016 and the pair made things official by getting married. And as expected, there were plenty of Corrie stars in attendance including Bruno Langley, who plays Todd Grimshaw, and Sam Ashton, who plays Chesney Brown. Mikey also had Ian Puleston-Davis, who plays his on-screen stepfather Owen Armstrong, as his best man.

It was an emotional day for Mikey who admitted: “Rachael looked amazing. I’m known for letting my emotions run away with me, so I was really concentrating on trying not to cry.”
