Victoria Beckham has reportedly been left ‘destroyed and infuriated’ by her son Brooklyn’s after ignoring his sister’s ‘olive branch’ after David received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star
It should have been one of the proudest days of her life – seeing her husband receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – but, instead, Victoria Beckham was left “devastated” and at “breaking point”, as her and David’s relationship with their eldest son Brooklyn deteriorated further.
After the star-studded event – watched by the couple’s three younger children, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14, as well as long-time pals Tom Cruise and Eva Longoria – Harper was photographed arriving at Brooklyn’s Los Angeles home to deliver a letter to her brother.
However, Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz-Beckham later issued a statement blasting the move as “choreographed”.
In words that our source says “destroyed and infuriated” Victoria, a rep for Brooklyn, 27, said, “That photographers were in place as the letter was hand delivered says it all – this was choreographed for the cameras.”
“To say Victoria is devastated is an understatement,” our source said. “She’s absolutely heartbroken that Brooklyn has reacted to his sister’s visit in this way. This was Harper’s olive branch, but it’s been thrown back in her face and that’s infuriated Victoria.
“This latest move from Brooklyn has just destroyed her, she’s terrified there’s no way back for them now. She’s absolutely at breaking point now and who can blame her?”
This isn’t the first time Brooklyn has accused his parents of orchestrating a PR campaign when it comes to crisis management.
In January he made bombshell claims that David, 51, and Victoria, 52, valued “public promotion and endorsements above all else”, and added that, in his experience, “Brand Beckham comes first.”
He also claimed to have been “controlled by my parents for most of my life,” and said that “performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into”.
It came as he accused his parents of trying to “ruin” his marriage to Nicola, 31, and confirmed that he was no longer on speaking terms with them.
But this latest blow has knocked Victoria and David for six. “Victoria has always hoped that time would heal things, so she was stunned when Brooklyn doubled down and issued a public statement about Harper’s visit,” our source said.
“He’s not backing down on his view that the Beckhams are ‘performative’, using Harper as a prop, and that enrages Victoria. Because, while her kids really do mean everything to her, it is also important that her public persona isn’t damaged, because she’s worked so hard to create a brand that she’s proud of. For Brooklyn to use that against her, well it’s a nightmare for her.
“David is absolutely furious. He felt the whole thing really overshadowed his big day and he’s sick of being asked about it. He’s worried about Victoria and Harper, too – the girls have been really shaken by it.”
Our source adds that Victoria really feels like there’s no going back now: “Regardless of everything that’s happened, Victoria would still do anything for Brooklyn. If he came back tomorrow she’d welcome him with open arms,” our source continued. “However, that’s looking less and less likely.
“His latest statement shocked both her and David, and this really does feel like the final nail in the coffin. Victoria’s terrified this is the end of their relationship, but she’ll never stop hoping her boy will come back to her. It’s driving her to despair, she’s at her wits’ end.
“David is furious and has told Victoria to stop trying with Brooklyn now. He’s done with the drama. But she’s a mum and she’ll never give up hope of getting her boy back.”
Despite their pain over Brooklyn’s snub, the rest of the Beckham clan put on a united front when David was awarded his star in Hollywood on Friday 12 June. Romeo brought his girlfriend Kim Turnbull along, while Cruz was joined by his partner, Jackie Apostel.
The family looked on proudly as David dedicated the honour to them, without naming anyone individually.
“My beautiful children, who are the reason I get out of bed in the morning,…” he said, as he fought back tears. “Kids, I’m going to get emotional now, I hope you bring my grandchildren here one day and tell them about a boy who dreamed big. To make you all proud is my greatest achievement. I’m so grateful to you all.”
Victoria and David’s A-list pals Tom Cruise and Eva Longoria were also at the ceremony, with Tom even kissing Posh’s hand at one point.
The Hollywood superstar was the first to address the guests, heaping praise on David’s “beautiful family” and telling the former footballer, “You earned this, and nobody deserves it more, my friend.”
A visibly emotional Victoria also gave a speech, praising David’s “kindness, his loyalty and his commitment to the people that he loves”.
While no one mentioned Brooklyn by name, his shadow loomed large over the proceedings, especially given that he lives only 20 minutes from where the ceremony took place. But he appeared unbothered by the reaction, and later shared a picture of him jogging in the New York sunshine with Nicola.
No doubt Posh will still be watching closely – and hoping things will change soon.
