‘Lock Upp’ Host, Riteish Deshmukh Gives A Savage Response To Dig At Salman And Sanjay’s Prison Past

Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa will premiere soon, and fans cannot wait. The show will return for its second season, with Riteish Deshmukh as the host this time. The actor has been busy promoting the show. However, when he made an appearance at the show’s launch in Mumbai on June 22, 2026, along with Farah Khan, Ekta Kapoor, Monika Shergill, Vice President Content, Netflix India, a question about whether he would invite Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt to the reality show, a question referencing the actors’ past legal controversies, left him visibly irked.

At the event, the media personnel asked the actor: Clearly unimpressed by the remark, Riteish didn’t let it slide and fired back with a sharp response. The personnel were quoted as saying:

“Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt are your closest friends. Both have a lot of experience with lock-ups. So, would you like to get them in Netflix’s Lock Upp? And how would you punish them?”

The question didn’t sit well with Riteish Deshmukh, and he made sure that his displeasure about such comments was registered. The actor hit back at the media personnel who had asked about Salman and Sanjay, saying he would not dignify their question with an answer. He was quoted as saying:

“Sabse pehle mujhe nahin lagta hai ki aapke sawal ka jawab deke main usko koi dignity dena chahunga.”

When he was once again asked if he would invite Salman and Sanjay to the show, Riteish Deshmukh clarified that he has no involvement in selecting the contestants for the reality show. The actor further reflected on his responsibilities as a host and was quoted as saying:

“I’ll not bring them as my duty is to host. And as a host, I don’t know which inmates would appear on the show. Jo bhi guests aate hai Lock Upp mein, unse hum baat karte hai.”

Lock Upp will return to screens after almost 4 years. The show, initially hosted by Kangana Ranaut, was released in 2022 and crowned Munawar Faruqui as its winner. However, while fans waited for the second season of the show, the announcement was never made that was until recently. The new season, called Lock Upp: Sach ya Sazaa, will be helmed by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh and will feature 14 well-known personalities as ‘inmates’ inside a controlled, high-pressure jail.

The show follows a strict setup that cuts the inmates off from the outside world, putting them in a relatively uncomfortable setting, and subjects them to increasingly challenging tasks. According to the show’s bio, “The inmates must navigate shifting alliances and difficult choices, where every move can flip the narrative overnight.” Instead of ALT Balaji and MX Player, this season of Lock Upp: Sach ya Sazaa will be released on Netflix and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms Ltd from June 27, 2026.

On Monday, June 22, 2026, the makers of Lock Upp: Sach ya Sazaa unveiled three contestants during a press conference. The first inmate was revealed to be Ram Kapoor, followed by YRKKH fame, Shivangi Joshi and internet personality, Pamala Serena.
