Mystikal’s Son Is ‘Not Ready’ To Meet His Dad In Prison After Rape Conviction And 20-Year Sentencing

It looks like Million Tyler isn’t planning to reconcile with his convicted father, Mystikal, after his recent 20-year sentence on third-degree assault charges.

Mystikal’s recent 20-year prison sentence has deeply affected his relationship with his son, Million Tyler. The rapper, whose real name is Michael Taylor, received the sentence earlier this month after pleading guilty to third-degree rape in connection with a 2022 case. While the legal proceedings may be over, the emotional fallout within his family appears far from resolved.

Mystikal’s son reacts to his sentencing for raping a woman

Mystikal was handed down his 20-year prison sentence on June 12, 2026, after he pleaded guilty to his victim’s allegations, in addition to his past sexual assault allegations over the years. Following the sentencing, his elder son, Million, broke his silence in an emotional interview with TMZ.

The emerging rapper shared that he was present inside the courtroom when the unnamed victim described with disturbing details the way Mystikal physically assaulted her in his Prairieville, Louisiana residence. Needless to say, that was a painful experience to sit through the proceedings. While expressing disappointment in his father, he said he feels terrible for both the victim and his father.

Mystikal wants to rebuild his relationship with Million

Recently, the rapper’s attorney shared that Mystikal has been trying to reconnect with his son following his sentencing, but his attempt received no response from Million’s end. Attorney Roy Maughan told TMZ:

“Mystikal has reached out to Million to patch things up, but I don’t think that’s happening yet.”

When the outlet reached out to Million, he had also reciprocated the feeling, saying he definitely wanted to speak to his convicted dad and meet him in prison, but he couldn’t say how long it might take him to face his father after all this. Mystikal’s attorney noted that he loves his son and wants to repair their bond, but acknowledged that Million is still struggling to process everything that has happened.

Why Million Tyler is keeping his distance from Mystikal

Million Tyler has publicly spoken about the emotional impact of watching his father’s legal battle unfold. Speaking after the sentencing, Million admitted that he felt sympathy for both the victim and his father, while making it clear that he was disappointed by the situation.

“I hope you get the help you need,” he said, addressing his father in comments that quickly drew attention online. While Million has not ruled out speaking with Mystikal in the future, he says he is not emotionally ready to have that conversation right now.

Mystikal’s conviction and message to the victim

Mystikal’s 20-year prison sentence stems from a July 2022 incident at his home in Prairieville, Louisiana. The unnamed alleged victim, a woman, reportedly went to the rapper’s home, where he accused her of stealing money and then sexually assaulted her. Mystikal was first indicted of first-degree rape, a charge that carried a potential life sentence if he was found guilty.

The rapper-actor pleaded guilty to third-degree rape, and on June 12, 2026, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison without parole. While the criminal case has ended, a civil lawsuit filed by the same woman is ongoing, with the plaintiff alleging physical injuries and emotional distress resulting from the incident. After the victim’s statement, Mystikal reportedly addressed the court, saying:

“If I did that to you, I deserve the max sentence.”

The rapper was initially charged with first-degree rape, which could have carried a life sentence if he had been convicted at trial. He instead struck a plea deal and entered a guilty plea to a lesser charge of third-degree rape. Mystikal’s lawyer told the Associated Press he agreed to the plea deal partly because of the legal jeopardy his past criminal record presented.

Can the father and son reconcile?

Well, for now, reconciliation appears to be a far-fetched ambition from the rapper’s end. Million is extremely disappointed in his father, and he asks for time to process everything that happened in the past few months, not considering Mystikal’s decades-long history of similar crimes.

For now, Mystikal and Million’s relationship remains fractured, and it remains to be seen whether time can eventually heal.
