Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White has reportedly travelled miles to eat at an unassuming UK pub as the food is “so good”. The charming story was recently shared with others

We all enjoy discovering a great place to eat, and the UK is certainly not short of fantastic pubs. However, a particular establishment has caught the eye of a celebrity chef, who appears to have confessed that he travels a considerable distance just to dine there.

Marco Pierre White is said to have visited the pub in Stroud, according to the venue’s Instagram page, and it’s got tongues wagging across the country. In a clip posted by the pub, Marco can be seen revealing he’s more than willing to travel a significant distance to sample the menu, as he believes the food is simply outstanding.

It’s not the only occasion someone has offered a glimpse into a charming local boozer either. Previously, other celebrity chefs revealed which pubs they really like visiting.

In the post, The Ship Inn, situated in Brimscombe, Gloucestershire, wrote: “A food influencer wanted to charge us £2,000 to eat at our pub, but Marco Pierre White travels 50 miles for one of our roasts.”

Alongside the footage, the pub also noted: “And he says The Ship is the ‘BEST PUB LUNCH I’VE HAD IN YEARS’.” A video of Marco singing the pub’s praises is also included in the post.

Marco said: “I’ve travelled 50 miles to come here. Why? Because it’s good. It’s very good. It’s the best. You’d be a fool not to make a reservation. Enjoy.”

Since being posted, the video has racked up thousands of views, with hundreds of punters wading in with their comments. It’s evident the subject struck a chord with a great many people.

One person remarked: “Bravo. What a compliment.” While another chimed in: “Without a question, the best pub roast.”

Carol Vorderman even joined the conversation, writing: “Gotta love The Ship.” A further commenter observed: “Love it. MPW supporting the industry and showing the power of influence based on real personal achievements, experience and knowledge.”

Yet another added: “Ok, if MPW says it’s worth it, then it’s worth it.” Several users noted the post appeared to be referencing the “influencer charging” trend that seems to be gaining traction.

Other establishments up and down the country have also used it to create their own social media content. Nevertheless, many felt it was brilliant that the pub had managed to secure a message from Marco.
