Swerve Strickland is never going to take a back seat to anyone.
The former AEW World champion has a chance to spoil the party at Forbidden Door (Sunday, 8 p.m, HBO Max/Amazon Prime) with so many people believing Will Ospreay, his opponent in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament final, is destined to move on to Wembley Stadium in his home country of England and finally win the AEW World championship at All In on Aug. 30.
Strickland enters the SAP Center in San Jose riding his personal story of redemption, trying to get back the championship he held for just four months in 2024.
“It’s being overlooked a little bit,” Strickland said of what he’s fighting for. “My story has always been the same, getting back to that world championship and getting that power that’s been taken from me.”
