Love Island stars Luke Mabbott and Lucie Donlan confirmed they got married last week, nearly five years after announcing their engagement.
Love Island stars Luke Mabbott and Lucie Donlan have officially tied the knot in a gorgeous wedding – almost five years after announcing their engagement. Very few of the hundreds of couples to appear on the show have made it down the aisle in its 11 years. Luke and Lucie only the fifth Love Island couple to do so.
The couple both took part on separate seasons of the ITV2 dating shows but their paths crossed in 2020 and they have been inseparable ever since. Six years later, the lovebirds confirmed that they got married earlier this month in a stunning ceremony.
In a joint post on Instagram, they could be seen sharing a kiss after saying their vows, with the bride in a crisp white wedding dress, with an intricate leaf pattern on the veil. Her new husband looked smart in a white tuxedo, holding her tightly for the intimate picture. The caption simply read: “Mr & Mrs Mabbott. 17.06.26.”
Luke and Lucie have become the sixth Love Island to walk down the aisle, following in the footsteps of Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey, Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen, Dom Lever and Jess Shears, Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt, and Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan.
Right on cue, the newlyweds were flooded with sweet messages from famous friends, as well as their fellow Islanders. Tom Clare commented: “Congratulations guys! Looks beautiful.”
“Congratulations guys,” Shaughna Phillips simply wrote, while Biggs Chris agreed: “Jheeeeeezzzzz congratulations guys.”
“Oh Luuuuuce. absolutely stunning! Congrats x,” Lucie Jones penned, as Vogue Williams added: “Ahhhhh how beautiful.”
It is not clear whether any Islanders got a coveted invite to their big day. Following the ceremony, Lucie changed her name on Instagram to ‘Lucie Rose Mabbott.’
She came to fame after appearing on the fifth season of Love Island, alongside Amber Gill, Tommy Fury, Molly-Mae Hague and Curtis Pritchard. The surfer briefly found love with co-star Joe Garratt, but it wasn’t to last and they left the villa separately.
The following year, Luke took part in the winter edition of the show, and finished in third place with Demi Rose. The pair split shortly after returning to the UK, and Luke was soon linked to Lucie.
They got engaged in December 2021, during a romantic trip to Finland, but insisted they wouldn’t be putting pressure on their big day.
“We’ve had a long engagement which has been lovely as it has given us time to really think about our dream day,” they told the Mirror last March. “We now know exactly what and I think going on this trip really sparked some more inspiration for our wedding plans.”
