Alka Yagnik Opens Up About Using Wheelchair After Receiving Padma Bhushan, ‘I Was Simply Fatigued..’

India’s ace veteran singer, Alka Yagnik, recently took to her social media handle to reassure her fans that her health was fine. This is because the singer who was bestowed with Padma Bhushan on June 23, 2026, was seen exiting the venue in a wheelchair. Netizens were very concerned about her health, and discussions spread on social media. Alka received the Padma Bhushan honour from President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi.

Alka Yagnik clarifies that she used a wheelchair as she was feeling fatigued

Alka Yagnik replied to worried fans who saw the video of her being assisted in a wheelchair after receiving the Padma Bhushan. There was widespread discussion about this on social media. A while back, Alka Yagnik took to her Instagram handle to reveal that she had requested a wheelchair due to fatigue. Alka Yagnik had penned:

“Thank you for your love, concern and countless good wishes. I have seen the concern surrounding a video from the ceremony and would like to assure everyone that I am well and progressing positively in my recovery. After a long and memorable day at the Padma felicitation, I was simply fatigued and requested a wheelchair while leaving.”

Alka Yagnik requested her fans not to worry as she feels much better and remains deeply grateful for the prayers and support that continue to strengthen her. Alka also thanked the Hon’ble President of India, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Government of India for the tremendous honour.

It was in 2024 when Alka Yagnik was diagnosed with a rare sensory neural nerve hearing loss due to a viral attack. One fan wrote, “Alka ji, praying for your speedy recovery and lasting good health. When Alka Yagnik revealed having sensorineural nerve hearing loss

Earlier, Alka Yagnik had addressed her fans, friends, followers, and well-wishers. She had stated that weeks ago, she walked off a flight and suddenly could not hear anything. Alka had mustered some courage in the weeks following the episode. The singer had broken her silence for all her friends and well-wishers who had asked her why she was missing in action. Alka revealed having a sensory neural nerve hearing loss due to a viral attack and penned:

“This sudden, major setback has caught me completely unawares. As I attempt to come to terms with it please keep me in your prayers. For my fans and young colleagues, I would add a word of caution regarding exposure to very loud music and headphones. One day, I wish to share the health perils of my professional life.”

Alka Yagnik, after receiving the Padma Bhushan, had written that for the last two years she has been away from the spotlight, public appearances, and sharing much of her journey. However, as she is going through difficult health issues, the love, prayers, messages, and unwavering support of fans have stayed with her every step of the way.
