VRO Caught Taking ₹18,000 Bribe

Visakhapatnam: Officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Vizianagaram Range, on Thursday caught a Village Revenue Officer (VRO) allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹18,000 for processing a land mutation application.

The accused was identified as Kothali Veeranna (56), VRO of Mokhasa Kothavalasa Grama Sachivalayam in Jami mandal of Vizianagaram district.

According to ACB officials, the trap was laid following a complaint by Jankala Suneetha of Balarampuram village under Mokhasa Kothavalasa panchayat.

The officer allegedly demanded and accepted ₹18,000 to process the land mutation and related revenue records. He was apprehended immediately after accepting the bribe. The tainted currency was recovered and chemical tests yielded positive results.

The accused was taken into custody and will be produced before the ACB Special Court.

ACB raids 12 Ongole town planning officials

Nellore: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday conducted simultaneous searches at the residences of 12 officials and employees of the Ongole Municipal Corporation’s Town Planning Department as part of an investigation into alleged corruption.

The searches were carried out at multiple locations in Ongole following complaints of irregularities in building plan approvals, layout permissions and construction-related clearances.

ACB teams examined documents, bank transactions and property records linked to the officials. Sources said the raids followed scrutiny of records collected during earlier inspections of Town Planning offices across the state.

Officials seized relevant documents during the searches. The investigation is continuing, and a detailed report will be released after the completion of the raids.

Modern food plaza opens at Vizag station

Visakhapatnam: A modern food plaza was opened on Platform No. 1 of Visakhapatnam Railway Station on Thursday, offering improved dining facilities for rail passengers.

The facility has a seating capacity of more than 100 people and includes both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned dining areas.
