Hyderabad: After searches at multiple locations, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday seized Rs 200 crore in benami assets — by market value — allegedly belonging to DSP Sankireddy Bheem Reddy. The search is likely to continue for two more days. The agency conducted searches based on a diary — allegedly containing a list of benami assets — in the possession of the DSP’s wife.
Bheem Reddy is currently posted as DSP in the stationery department of the Director-General of Police (DGP) office. He was earlier posted across important divisions in both the Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerates. ACB conducted searches at his house in Cyberabad and also his cabin at the DGP office.
Based on the diary entries, it identified Bheem Reddy’s 16 alleegd benami assets at multiple locations, including Hyderabad, Zaheerabad, Sangareddy, Shamshabad, Gachibowli, Vikarabad, Mominpet, and Bengaluru, among others. All these assets were registered in benami names.
Apart from this, the officials identified commercial property in Gachibowli, a farmhouse registered in the name of the accused’s friend in Mominpet, an apartment in Gachibowli in Bheem Reddy daughter’s name and several acres of land registered in the names of his close relatives, family members and friends in Bengaluru.
The officials also seized Rs 40 lakh cash from his benami house in the city. At Bheem Reddy’s house, the agency also found about two kilograms of gold ornaments, about 20 kilograms of silver articles and about Rs 19.91 lakh in bank accounts.
ACB booked cases against Bheem Reddy for holding assets disproportionate to his known sources of income by indulging in corrupt practices and dubious means during his service.
The accused was posted as DSP PCU at the DGP office. Earlier, he worked as a sub-divisional police officer of Sangareddy district, holding the charge of Vanasthalipuram, Zaheerabad, Balanagar, and Patancheru police stations.
