While both of these two forwards will go down as among the greatest soccer players in history, their respective fan bases are constantly at odds with each other, and their arguments often turn bitter.
However, while Messi’s and Ronaldo’s fans might have been with each other, their respective significant others clearly do not.
This was shown by an Instagram story post that Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, made on July 5. It showed a package that included workout clothes, a bag, and what looked to be a yoga mat from Mimoa, which is a clothing company that Ronaldo’s fiancée, Georgina Rodriguez, founded.
Roccuzzo’s story was captioned, “Muchas gracias @georginagio 🤍✨ Todo hermoso. Te deseo todo el exitó del mundo 💪”.
That’s Rodriguez’s account that Roccuzzo tagged, which means that this caption translates to, “Thank you very much Georgina 🤍✨ Everything is beautiful. I wish you all the success in the world 💪”.
It’s cool to see that Roccuzzo is wishing Rodriguez all the success in the world. Then again, one would assume that this wouldn’t extend to if their significant others face each other in the 2026 World Cup.
Many soccer fans feel like the reason Messi has an edge over Ronaldo regarding their resumés is because Messi won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, while Ronaldo still hasn’t brought Portugal a World Cup trophy.
Perhaps he’ll manage to do so this year. But he’ll have to beat Lamine Yamal and Spain first during their Round of 16 matchup on July 6.
