Andre has provided a short and sweet statement to Sky as part of their new documentary series
Peter Andre has given a rare comment about his time with Katie Price for her new documentary series. The singer and former I’m A Celebrity star, 53, was married to Katie from 2005 until 2009 after they met in the jungle on the ITV show.
Sadly after having their own reality TV series they fell out and had a word of words for some time afterwards. But in more recent years Andre has refused to comment on the marriage for the sake of their two children Junior and Princess.
Asked to comment on the marriage and this period of his life which features in Katie’s new documentary series, Andre provided a statement which appears on screen at the end of episode three.
Andre said: “I have chosen not to speak publicly about these matters out of love and respect for Junior and Princess. Today Katie and I maintain an amicable relationship in the interests of our children. I sincerely wish her happiness and peace for the future.”
Looking back on their time together after meeting on I’m A Celebrity, Katie says in her new Sky Documentary: “By the end of it I was smitten with him. Meeting Pete and being with Pete were the best times of my life, without a doubt.”
She adds: “I had my prince, I knew I would be with him forever.” But sadly forever was just a few years and the relationship was over. The pair had started to argue about work and Peter also suspected Katie had got close to other men.
For her part, Katie admits she found their agent Claire Powell “suffocating” at times and missed doing photoshoots as Jordan in favour of her new more clean cut image with Peter.
But reflecting on the split in the documentary, which was sudden and without attempts to talk things through she says it was “like a dagger in the heart” and she didn’t want to split up.
In episode four of the documentary she adds: “For people looking in we were the perfect couple. But there were things that weren’t right. It’s all about communication and we didn’t communicate, but we could have worked through it. We could have done, looking back. Can’t turn the clock back now, it’s weird.”
Katie launched the series at the Sheffield Documentary festival last month. She claimed the TV series was the start of a new beginning for her.
At the time she said: “I am so proud, you know. I’ve got beautiful kids. I’ve still got an amazing family. There’s not that many friends left for me, because I’ve learned that some of the friends are people I’ve needed to get rid of.
“But I am definitely the best version I’ve ever been of myself. It’s like I’ve been in a washing machine and come out the other side with the experience and the knowledge, and I am at peace with myself. I feel like I’m starting my career again, and this is the start of my new career.”
Despite being currently being married to Lee Andrews, she also told the audience she might marry again in the future. She added: “What am I going to be like in 20 years? I should certainly look different, my face will be up here. How many more marriages? I don’t know.”
* Katie Price: Nothing to Hide, a four-part Sky Original series, will be available on Sky and streaming service NOW on 8 July.
