Hyderabad: Future City Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi on Saturday said the department would examine the negligence of the Shahbad police in handling the POCSO case effectively.
The case was booked by the mother of a minor girl after the accused P Raj Kumar started harassing her daughter. When media persons brought to him about the negligence of the local police, he said the family complained about it. “We are examining it,” he said. Asked whether the accused Raj Kumar was facing any other case registered earlier, Joshi said apart from POCSO case, one more case related to land dispute was pending against him.
Referring to the POCSO case, he said Raj Kumar remained untraceable for two weeks after registering the case on May 16. But the police traced and arrested on May 26. However, the accused managed to secure bail and attended counseling two or three times.
Raj Kumar’s family members informed the police that he was suffering from mental issues and he got into gambling.
