Make it back to back for Jannik Sinner.

The top-seeded 24-year-old Italian captured his second straight Wimbledon title Sunday afternoon, defeating No. 2 Alexander Zverev 6-7 (7-9), 7-6 (7-2), 6-3, 6-4 in a nearly four-hour duel on Centre Court at the All England Club.

The win gives Sinner five grand slam victories.

It also turns around what had been a substandard year in the major tournaments after he reached the finals at all four in 2025, which included two wins.

Sinner was ousted in the semifinals at this year’s Australian Open and fell in the second round at the French Open, his earliest exit at a grand slam in three years.

Zverev was coming off his first grand slam victory last month at Rolland Garros, and this marked the first time in the 29-year-old German’s career he had reached two consecutive grand slam finals.

His success comes as Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz is out with a wrist injury.
