October may be months away, but oddsmakers aren’t setting the bar high for the Brooklyn Nets in this upcoming NBA season.
For the third consecutive season, the Nets’ projected regular-season wins total is set at 19.5. This is the lowest over/under among all 30 teams entering the 2026-27 season.
Two Philadelphia 76ers teams from the “Trust the Process” era still hold the record for the lowest opening win totals on a sportsbook, at 16.5 and 16, according to Sports Odds History.
The Nets are not the only team close to making history, as the Kings (20.5), Grizzlies (21.5), Bucks (23.5), and Bulls (24.5) are among rebuilding franchises with low projected win totals.
Fortunately for Brooklyn, they have exceeded the 19.5 wins threshold in consecutive seasons, with 26 wins in 2024-25 and 20 victories last season. Currently, DraftKings Sportsbook offers odds of -135 for the Nets to continue this trend and go over.
They are a whopping 500/1 to win the Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division.
Being second fiddle to the championship Knicks across town isn’t the worst, but it shows that expectations for Jordi Fernandez and his team are quite low.

An optimistic outlook suggests the Nets could comfortably achieve 20 or more wins.
“We’ve got a well-thought-out plan here over not only the last couple of years but the couple of years ahead. We’re gonna try and find who the next Nets are gonna be”, General Manager Sean Marks told the Post earlier in the week.
Their new core centers on Michael Porter Jr. and the newly acquired Julius Randle. Both are iso-heavy options and unafraid to take their fair share of shots.
Betting on the NBA?
In early July, the team made deals for returning frontcourt pieces Day’Ron Sharpe and Josh Minott, as well as former Kings and Cavaliers guard Keon Ellis.
Brooklyn also drafted Mikel Brown Jr. out of Louisville with the No. 6 pick and Iowa State forward Joshua Jefferson at 28 in last month’s draft. Not to mention, 2025 lottery pick Egor Denim showed flashes of potential last season.

The aim is to eventually have Denim and Brown Jr. play together in the backcourt.
An additional factor that could help them perform better and boost their wins is that they do not control their 2027 draft pick. Those rights are held by the Rockets as part of a pick swap.
The future of Randle and Porter Jr.’s co-existence is uncertain, and whether either will stay with the Nets also remains undecided. Yet in the grand scheme of things, Brooklyn remains far from being a playoff contender.
