Hosted by Saturday Night Live star Marcello Hernandez, the annual awards ceremony celebrates top athletes, teams, and the most memorable performances of the year across the world of sports. However, the award ceremony was no less than a Met Gala event with athletes putting their best foot forward.

They might be ruling the field in different sports arenas, but the ESPY Awards 2026 saw the biggest names in sports putting their best fashion foot forward. From couture gowns to custom-tailored outfits, many athletes dazzled their way on the red carpet.
Simone Biles attended the 2026 ESPY Awards with her footballer husband, Jonathan Owens. For the event, Simone looked stunning in a strapless high-low metallic gown, which extended into a floor-length skirt. She accessorised her attire with diamond jewellery and completed her look with open-toe heels. Her husband, Jonathan, looked dapper in a coffee brown tuxedo.
While Simone donned a metallic attire, Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn went for sequins. Vonn donned a floor-length Gucci gown in dense silver sequins. The high-neck gown had one fitted long sleeve and left the opposite sleeve bare. She opted for minimal accessories to complete her look.
Next power couple adding glam to the red carpet was Stephen and Ayesha Curry, who made many heads turn with their fashionable outing. The couple, who were honored with the Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award, walked the event in coordinating looks.
Stephen donned a black suit with a navy-blue satin shirt, while Ayesha wore a sheer black strapless gown by Christian Siriano. The gown featured a crystal bustier that dropped down throughout the dress. With her hair combed backward in a braided bun, Ayesha accessorised her look with drop earrings and blush makeup.
Ilona Maher’s white cut-out gown was a showstopper
29-year-old Olympic rugby star Ilona Maher turned many heads as she made a striking appearance on the ESPYS red carpet, donning a white column-cutout gown. The gown featured a silver-embellished bandeau top and a white satin floor-length skirt from TJ Maxx. She accessorised her look with long, sparkly drop earrings and a dainty bracelet. She wore her hair sleek and straight and sported a smoky glam makeup look.
On the other hand, American alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin donned a boat-neck, sleeveless metallic sequined gown with a back slit. With a dainty pair of earrings, Shiffrin tied her hair up and completed her look with gold-toned Christian Louboutin heels which matched her sequined gown.
The 2026 ESPY Awards were held at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. The ceremony brought the awards back to New York for the first time since 1999. Marcello Hernández of Saturday Night Live hosted the event. On the other hand, Jalen Brunson and Shohei Ohtani led the nominees. The 2026 ESPY Awards also introduced three social-only categories, including Best Tunnel Fit, which put athletes’ pregame style in the awards mix alongside Best Celebration and Best Sports Card.
