Chittoor: Murders driven by extramarital disputes continue in the country, and the use of mobiles and technology to commit such heinous crimes is also on the rise.In one such incident reported in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, a young woman conspired with her lover to kill her husband on the pretext of taking him to the temple and sharing their live location to have him killed. The same technology was used to crack the crime and arrest them along with two other accomplices.
As per reports, Hasini of Boyinapalli village in Shantipuram mandal in the district had married Ramesh (23) from Shoolagiri in Tamil Nadu in 2024, who was working in a private company. The couple had a one-year-old daughter, Moulikasri. Hasini was said to be involved in an extramarital relationship with a man named Yugandhar, from her native village. She made a detailed plan to eliminate her husband so the two could live together.
According to police, Hasini took Ramesh and their daughter to the Sri Malleshwara Swamy Temple atop Mallappa Konda in Gudupalle mandal in Kuppam division on Tuesday. As part of the plan, she allegedly shared their live location with Yugandhar over the phone, for him to track their movements. As they reached a hairpin bend on the Hill Road, she deliberately dropped her handbag, and Ramesh had to stop his motorcycle to pick up the bag.
This was the signal, and Yugandhar and his associates, who were waiting there, allegedly came out from the bushes and chased Ramesh into the nearby forest, and hacked him to death with sharp weapons, fatally striking him on the head with a boulder resulting in his death.
After the murder, Hasini, Yugandhar, and another accomplice fled on Ramesh’s own motorcycle, taking Hasini’s daughter with them.
The crime came to light after Hasini’s mother approached the police when her daughter and granddaughter failed to return home. CCTV footage from the temple route showed Ramesh with his wife, Hasini, and their daughter. While the other footage showed her leaving the area in the same vehicle with two other men and the child.
Chittoor Police thoroughly analysed mobile phone records, location data, and other technical evidence, which eventually led them to Ramesh’s body. After taking Hasini into custody and further interrogation, she confessed to the killing. Later, Yugandhar and two other accomplices were eventually arrested, and four of them were sent to judicial remand.
