Exclusive: Spice Girl Mel C is tying the knot this weekend to partner Chris Dingwall as insiders say “all the girls are thrilled for her…they are all so excited.”
Mel C is secretly getting married this weekend to partner Chris Dingwall, the Mirror can exclusively reveal. She is the last of the Spice Girls to tie the knot after famously vowing for years that she would never get hitched.
Earlier this year she hinted that she might have had a change of heart with boyfriend Chris. She said in January: “It’s something I didn’t think would be part of my story, but I’m so happy with Chris. Maybe it is something that will be in my life.”
Her fellow bandmates have all been invited to the wedding which is being held at a “beautiful” countryside setting in the UK. Geri Horner, Mel B and Emma Bunton are all expected to attend but Victoria Beckham is at the World Cup with husband David.
Insiders told the Mirror they were “all absolutely over the moon” for Sporty Spice Mel. One said: “All the girls are thrilled for her….they are all so excited. They have never seen her so happy.”
The Spice Girls star, 52, went public with Australian model and screenwriter Chris in 2024 after the pair matched on celebrity dating app Raya. In May she said how her elements of her new album Sweat were inspired by Chris.
She said: “Not long into making the record, I met somebody new, I fell in love, and so I ended up having this wonderful arc of emotions throughout the album – of heartbreak and then that excitement of a new relationship.” She added to the Telegraph: “He’s very laid-back. He’s loads of fun…we work out together. We have very similar personalities and lifestyles.”
The star also recently opened up about the way she manages to spend time with her partner despite her constant touring schedule.
Mel said: “Rather than separating work and life, I enjoy them both together, which has been a big shift. I think that really happened after I met my partner, Chris.
“He’s able to travel with me a lot. He’s a screenwriter so he can work from anywhere, and that usually means with me, which is good for me.” She added: “It’s so beautiful to be able to enjoy the life I have with the person I love.”
Friends say the wedding is the “icing on the cake” after a brilliant year for Mel. Just last week she was honoured with the global impact award at the Nordoff And Robbins Silver Clef Awards at the Royal Albert Hall. The star gushed on stage: “I am living my best life….I am the happiest I have ever been.” She added: “I stand here 30 years into my career, 52 years of age and this year I released an album that was my highest charting album in my entire solo career.
A pal said: “Mel is on fire at the moment. She is such a lovely person and deserves all the success both professionally, and now personally, as well.”
Geri married Christian Horner in 2015, while Emma married Jade Jones in 2021. Mel B tied the knot with husband number three Rory McPhee last year, while Victoria married David Beckham in 1999.
Mel shares daughter Scarlett with property developer Thomas Starr, her partner of 20 years, before they split in 2021. She was previously in a seven-year relationship with her former manager Joe Marshall, which ended in 2015.
