Arijit Singhs Fan Rejoice As His Awarapan 2 Song Picks Up

When Arijit Singh announced his retirement from playback singing earlier this year, it came as a shock to both the music industry and his fans. Known for lending his voice to some of Bollywood’s biggest hits, Arijit revealed that he would no longer be taking up any new playback singing assignments, although he clarified that he would continue making independent music and honour his existing commitments.

Now, it appears that the singer has made a return, at least for one of those pending commitments.
The makers of Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 have unveiled the film’s latest track, Yeh Awarapan, featuring vocals by Arijit Singh. The song has been composed by Amaal Mallik, with lyrics penned by Rashmi Virag. It has been released by Vishesh Films in collaboration with Sony Music India.

Arijit Singh and Vishesh Films share a long-standing musical association that dates back to Murder 2. Over the years, they have collaborated on several memorable soundtracks, including CityLights, Khamoshiyan and Hamari Adhuri Kahani, delivering songs that have become fan favourites.

While Yeh Awarapan has sparked speculation about Arijit’s return to playback singing, the singer has not made any official announcement about reversing his decision. In fact, when announcing his retirement, he had stated that he would complete all the film commitments he had already taken on, making it likely that Awarapan 2 was among those projects.

Talking of Awarapan 2, it is a sequel to Emraan Hashmi’s film Awarapan, which released almost 19 years ago. He will be seen reprising his role of Shivam Pandit.
The teaser, which released last month, offers a nostalgic yet intense look at the sequel. It opens with Hashmi’s character riding a bike while delivering a powerful dialogue, “Kuch logo ki kahaniya unki marzi se khatam nahi hoti, unki kahani, dusro ke liye likhi jaati hai.” The visuals also feature a moment where he pays tribute to Aaliyah Hamid, the character played by Shriya Saran in the 2007 film.

Besides Emraan Hashmi, the film also stars  Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in key roles. Produced by Vishesh Films and directed by Nitin Kakkar, the film will release in theatres during the Independence Day weekend on August 14.
