SS Rajamouli has revealed how he found an unconventional solution to balancing his demanding filmmaking career with family life. The Baahubali and RRR director shared that instead of reducing his workload, he encouraged his family members to join the film industry so they could spend more time together.

Speaking about his routine, Rajamouli described the long hours that leave little room for a conventional family life. “I go to the shoot by 5:30 am and finish work by 6 pm. I then go to the edit suite. I focus on post-production from then onwards. By the time I come back home, it’s 10 pm,” he said.

The filmmaker admitted that such a schedule makes maintaining a work-life balance nearly impossible. “There is absolutely no family life with that kind of work hours, but that’s the only way I know,” he explained.

Rather than stepping away from work, Rajamouli chose to bring his loved ones into his professional world. “I thought the best way to lead a family life is to have my family on set. I tricked all my family members into joining films,” he said with a smile. He added that the process isn’t over yet. “I still need to succeed in bringing my daughter and daughter-in-law to movies. Very soon, I will bring them too.”

Rajamouli’s filmmaking journey has long been a family affair. His wife, Rama Rajamouli, is the costume designer for his films, while his son, SS Karthikeya, works as a line producer and is also among the producers of his upcoming film Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu.

His father, Vijayendra Prasad, has penned the stories for blockbusters including the Baahubali franchise and RRR, while his cousin, Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani, has created the music for many of his films, including the Academy Award-winning song Naatu Naatu. Another cousin, SS Kanchi, has also contributed as a writer on several of Rajamouli’s projects.

Together, the Rajamouli family has built one of Indian cinema’s most successful creative collaborations, with each member playing a key role in bringing the filmmaker’s ambitious vision to life.
